a lot of
1. a lot of + noun หมายถึง ปริมาณมาก หรือ เป็นจำนวนมาก ตามได้ทั้งนามนับได้ และไม่ได้

There are a lot of apples. 
Toon drank a lot of water during the marathon. 

2. a lot อยู่หลังคำกริยา (Verbs)
หมายถึง เป็นอย่างมาก หรือ บ่อย ๆ เช่น

I cried a lot when I thought I lost you. 
I read an interesting book. I learned a lot about life.

so และ very
แปลว่า มาก 

I was very excited. 
I was so excited that I couldn’t sleep all the night.

Ploy sings karaoke very beautiful. 
Ploy sings karaoke so beautiful that I want to sing like her.

ข้อควรระวัง : ห้ามใช้ a lot กับคุณศัพท์ (Adjective)
Incorrect : Ploy sings karaoke a lot beautiful.

ในการพูดอย่างไม่เป็นทางการ โดยทั่วไปเราใช้ **really** แทน very ได้ เช่น

I was really excited.
Ploy sings karaoke really beautiful.

เราไม่สามารถใช้ really แทนที่ so ได้ และในการพูดอย่างไม่เป็นทางการ 
You are so cute! (คุณน่ารักมาก)
That test was so hard! (ข้อสอบนั่นยากมาก)
I’m so excited! (ฉันตื่นเต้นมาก)

too
(Adverbs) หมายถึง มากเกินไป มีความหมายในเชิงลบ และใช้ในโครงสร้าง too + adj. + to + verb เช่น

This sweater is too big to wear. (สเวตเตอร์ตัวนี้ใหญ่เกินไปที่จะใส่ได้)
That computer is too expensive to buy. (คอมพิวเตอร์นั้นแพงเกินกว่าจะซื้อ)

too ยังหมายถึง อย่างมาก ด้วย เช่น

She is too beautiful! (เธอสวยมาก)
This pizza is too delicious! (พิซซ่านี้อร่อยมาก)

ถ้าใช้ too เพื่อบอกปริมาณของคำนาม มักใช้คู่กับ much หรือ many เช่น

There are too many books on the table. (มีหนังสือมากมายบนโต๊ะ)
I’m not going to travel because it’ll cost too much money. (ฉันจะไม่ไปเที่ยวหรอกเพราะมันใช้เงินมากเกินไป)


สรุปข้อควรระวัง!!

1. a lot of นำหน้านามนับได้และนับไม่ได้ (a lot of + nouns) หมายถึง ปริมาณมาก หรือ จำนวนมาก
2. a lot ตามหลังคำกริยา (verb + a lot) หมายถึง เป็นอย่างมาก หรือ บ่อย ๆ
3. a lot กับ many ใช้กับคำนามได้
4. ห้ามใช้ a lot กับคำคุณศัพท์
5. a lot คือคำสองคำ ห้ามเขียนติดกัน
6. very ใช้นำหน้าคำคุณศัพท์, คำกริยาวิเศษณ์
7. ห้ามใช้ very กับคำนาม
8. การพูดอย่างไม่เป็นทางการใช้ really แทน very ได้
9. ใช้ really แทน so ไม่ได้
